VOCABULARY: BUILDING PART I
Hello sang bintang. Hari Senin paling pas buat belajar hal baru ya. Salah satunya menambah vocabulary. Seperti yang sudah pernah kita bahas di artikel STOP DO THIS IN 2020, cara efektif untuk belajar bahasa Inggris adalah STOP TRANSLATING. Bagaimana agar kita berhenti dari kebiasaan men-translate? salah satunya adalah pelajari konsep baru dalam bahasa Inggris. So, dalam pembelajaran vocab kali ini penjelasannya juga dalam bahasa Inggris. Gunakanlah imajinasi kalian untuk menggambarkan penjelasan tersebut sehingga kalian bisa memahami maksud kata tersebut. - ARSENAL = a building where
weapons and military equipment are stored.
- AUDITORIUM = a large room with rows of seats and often a stage which is used for performances and for public events or meeting, or a building containing such a room.
- CASINO = a building where
games, especially roulette and card games are played for money.
- CASTLE = a large strong building, built in the past by a ruler or important person to protect the people inside from attack
- COTTAGE = a small house,
usually in the countryside.
- COURT = a place where
trials and other legal cases happen, or the people present in such a
place, especially the officials and those deciding if someone is guilty
- COFFEE SHOP = a small,
informal restaurant where drinks and small meals are served, sometimes in
a larger shop or building.
- FACTORY = a building or
set of buildings where large amounts of goods are made using machines.
- GYMNASIUM = a large room
with equipment for exercising the body and increasing strength
- HALL = a building or large room used for event involving a lot of people.
- INN = a small hotel,
usually in the countryside
- PRISON/JAIL = a building
where criminals are forced to live as a punishment.
- LIBRARY = a building,
room, or organization that has a collection, especially of books, for
people to read or borrow, usually without payment.
- LIGHTHOUSE = a tall
building near the coast or shore with a flashing light at the top to warn
ships of rocks and other dangers
- MOTEL = a hotel for people
travelling by car, usually with spaces for cars next to each room
- MUSEUM = a building where
objects of historical, scientific, or artistic interest are kept.
- ORPHANAGE = a home for
children whose parents are dead or unable to care for them.
- PALACE = a large house
that is the official home of a king, queen, or other person of high social
rank.
- PHARMACY = a shop or part
of a shop in which medicines are prepared and sold
- REFINERY = a factory where
substances in their natural state, such as oil or sugar, are made pure.
- SKY SCRAPER = a very tall
modern building, usually in a city
- STORE ROOM = a room for
keeping things in while they are not being used
- STALL = a large table or a
small shop with an open front from which goods are sold in a public place.
- TENT = a shelter made of
canvas or a similar material and supported by poles and ropes, that you can
fold up and carry with you.
- THEATER = a building,
room, or outside structure with rows of seats, each row usually higher
than the one in front, from which people can watch a performance, a movie,
or another activity.
- WARE HOUSE = a large
building for storing things before they are sold, used, or sent out to
shops.
- WORKSHOP = a room or
building where things are made or repaired using machines and/or tools.
